Julie lives near Moruya on the southeast coast of Australia – between the forest and the sea - an environment that richly inspires her work.

Felt-making is her major passion. She
enjoys a challenge, loves to explore and experiment, and delights in the surprises that felt-making so often provides.
The tactile experience of working with wool, silk, and other fibres excites her,  and she is inspired by the sculptural and textural possibilities of felt.
The deep historical roots of felt-making have also helped to draw her into its magic.

As well as elegant and quirky sculptures and wall hangings, her work includes neckpieces, a number of prize-winning headpieces, and beautiful nuno wraps of silk and wool.  Her wearables include functional items as well as more adventurous wearable art.

While her favourite medium is felt, she often incorporates stitch, print and eco-dyes, and her portfolio includes pieces using found objects, x-rays and even upcycled undergarments.
Inspiration for her work includes life experience, nature, politics and word-play.
